We left Deltaville for Solomons on Monday morning arriving in Solomons, MD in the early afternoon. We stayed at the Solomons Yacht Club. After getting settled with the boat we walked up to the club house to register and we each received a free drink in the bar. Maybe yacht clubs have an advantage over marinas! Also at the yacht club were Panacea and Attitude Changer, two boats we met at the rendezvous and were also at Deltaville.
Tuesday was a beautiful day and Jan and I went for a bicycle ride around the town. Before long we spotted the Hairport where I got a much needed haircut and Jan had Joanna work her magic on her hair. We were both extremely happy with Joanna's results. In the afternoon we went for a dinghy ride around the bay and backwaters. Some of the pictures below are from our dinghy ride. Solomons is definitely an area to return to.
Although we really liked Solomons and could have stayed longer we departed on Wednesday morning for St. Michaels, MD.
Gone are the shallow mud flats of Georgia where we only had 3' under our boat at times.
Here the chart plotter shows 110.6 feet below the boat.
Not only is it deep but this day was smooth and sunny and warm.
We were able to drive from the flybridge for a change.
Navigator at the yacht club dock.
No, we didn't add a mast to our boat, it is on a sailboat in the next slip behind us.
There were many of these birds building their nests on the navigation aids.
This cute little house was for sale on one of the back channels. At first we thought it was a guest house for one of the mansions on both sides of it but we decided it was a single residence.
We weren't successful in finding out the price.
We disagree if this cool driftwood sculpture is a horse or a dragon.
Either way there are sure a lot of talented people around.
These house boats reminded us of Red Wing, MN.
This lighthouse was sitting at the end of the channel.
We don't know if it was ever a working one but it was cute.
